Notts County Show 2017

Last friday morning 12th May I headed up to Notts County Show Ground in Newark to meet David Cole and Colin Ellison to help build the first show jumping course ready for an eight oclock start the following morning. It had forcast rain showers on the friday and yes we did get one outburst of rain but fortunately we were having a coffee break in David's caravan at the time.Even though we had quite a down poor it didn't affect the going for the horses all weekend.

The first class on saturday was a 1.25M 2 phase where the rider enters the arena and jumps approximately half the numbered course and then if he or she goes clear they jump the second half of the numbered course against the clock as the jump off without leaving the arena at any time.                                                                                                            Throughout the weekend we had 1.30 open classes,  speed or A4 jumping classes as they are referred to these days,  Grade C qualifiers and the one class that everyone who is interested in showjumping came to see which was the Matty Brown stakes that reached a massive 1.55M at some fences in the jump off with a huge water jump in the first round of approximately 11 feet. What a fantastic weekends jumping and for me what a great time I had helping David and Colin and also I should mention Tony from Cheshire Show Hire who supplied all the great fences and also helped too,  they all made it such a brilliant time for me and we had a good laugh along the way,  and also myy partner Caroline who came with on Sunday,  thankyou.
